Blog Vacation Day!

Powered by Gregarious (21)
March 14th, 2007 by Matthew Jabs

Inspired by this post on Weblog Tools Collection I here by designate Sundays the official eJabs Blog Vacation Day!

From now on, there will be no new posts written on eJabs on Sundays.  Instead, Sunday will be used to return emails, answer commentators, clean up code, tweak the site, upgrade plugins, etc.

I believe this will have the following positive effects:

  1. I will focus on writing better content during the week, and will tweak on Sundays (right now I’m tweaking every day and not paying good enough attention to my content)!
  2. Having one day entire day to focus on site design will help me to be more organized & plan strategy better, as opposed to doing a little bit here & a little bit there.
  3. It will give me a creative break, so I don’t have to focus on writing.  This will help me to keep from getting burned out, and will help me be fresh and ready to go on Mondays.

What are some other reasons I (or you) should or should not have a Blog Vacation Day?

If you're new here, or you just enjoy the content, you may want to subscribe to my Email Alerts or RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Unfortunately, I find it difficult to designate a day to take a day off from writing. I get enough unscheduled vacation days caused by my hosting provider screwing things up and when my connection gets hijacked by my relatives.

It’s a good idea, but I’m now using the ability of WordPress to ‘post into the future’ to get some posts in the bank, so I can take a day off, but posts still appear as normal :-)

I agree that it is very easy to spend a day just fiddling with templates & plugins and forget why you’re blogging in the first place though.
