A Few eJabs Updates and a Note From John Chow…
April 20th, 2007 by Matthew Jabs
I wanted to take this opportunity to let you all know about a few different things going on here on eJabs…
First…let me start with some link love for some blogs that are either new, or newly discovered by me. I’m linking to them here because I believe they will be valuable to my readers.
ShanKri-la - run by my friend and ex-roommate Karthik Ramadoss. ShanKri-la is relatively new, but is already showing great potential. Though it has only been around a short while, ShanKri-la has already been awarded Tech Blog of the Week by Daily Cup Of Tech (DCOT). Check it out, give them some comment love and encouragement…we all know how that can be a great motivator to “keep up the good work”! Thanks Karthik.
GarryConn.com - Garry Conn is a successful Internet entrepreneur and a great blogging contact! Recently, I have begun developing a friendship with Garry and am very excited about getting to know him better & picking his brain about all sorts of things. GarryConn.com is a fantastic blog and is based on the premise of success, creativity, and passive income (what could be better than these things together?). Check out GarryConn.com and get ready to learn, be challenged, gain insight, and contribute to something positive. Thanks Garry.
Blog About Your Blog - I just wrote a post about them, but wanted to mention BAYB again. They are set up to be a community blog, and I’m sure a lot of good material will come out of it. I’m not sure how long BAYB has been around, but head over there & check them out…they’ve got a good thing started, so let’s support them in it! Thanks Matt & Lee.
Okay…moving on…I also wanted to mention a few other things:
- Although eJabs doesn’t have a huge RSS subscription audience, today we have reached a new high of 71 RSS subscribers.
- I won’t be posting for the next few days because my wife and I are closing on our new home! Today we are closing on both the sale of our exisiting home, & on the purchase of our new home, so please wish us Godspeed. We are beginning our move shortly after our closing today. We will be moving some things today, but the big move is going to be tomorrow, Saturday, April 21st. I will be tearing my computer down today, shortly after writing this post, and will be setting it up on Sunday morning. My cable internet is scheduled to go in on Sunday.
- I added a new banner at the top of the page. A long time ago John Chow gave me some advice to redo my banner because it was a little hard to read…well John…I finally took your advice. Sorry it took me so long, and if it makes you feel any better…you were right all along! Oh yeah…& thanks for the advice. Anyway, check out the new banner and let me know what you think.
- I also moved some widgets around and added the eJabs Sponsors widget. If anyone wants to buy a spot, let me know. I have my Text-Link-Ads there, and have two direct sponsors in the works. Also, let me know what you think of the layout. I tried to move the Recent Posts widget up higher, since I like when other sites have that somewhere near the top.
- I now have a Medium Rectangle ad on each of the 10 posts on my front page. The first 3 are Google Adsense, and the bottom 7 are Bidvertiser. I’ll let you know how they’re performing later. If you want to know how I placed them in this manner, comment here & I’ll contact you directly.
I think that’s about it for now…remember to keep us in your prayers for our whole moving deal this weekend, the Lord has blessed us with extremely good weather. In fact, I would wager to say that today is going to be the nicest day we’ve had so far this year! Sunny & 70 baby…it doesn’t get any better than that!
I’ll see you all in a few days!
Oh yeah…for those interested, here is the email thread John Chow & I had concerning my banner:
“John Chow wrote:

template.I like your site but consider a new front for your name. The current one is
hard to read.John

I noticed that you are using Bidvertiser. Have you tried to advertise your blog with bidvertiser? I did a comparison between google adwors vs. bidvertiser you can read about it from my blog. http://tjantunen.com/2007/04/09/bidvertiser-vs-google-adwords/
thanks for the posts and promotion
definitely helping us to our goal for this week.
I’ll see about getting you on our blogroll
Matt,
You make me thank you at every turn.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Through this Technorati experiment, I have really come across some great blogs. Garry Conn is a definite winner. He is very resourceful and runs an informative blog.
I did leave a comment at Blog About Your Blog. Let’s see if I get lucky. Another great find..
Keep up the good work yourself..
