Stomach Flu
April 9th, 2007 by Matthew Jabs
Greetings eJabs readers!
I apologize for my lack of articles as of late, as you may have expected, there are reasons. Namely, my wife & I have been trying to finalize the purchase of our 2nd home and it has taken a lot of my time. Everything went extremely smooth except for the mortgage financing. That entire process has to be one of the most vague, obscure, and suspicious processes I have yet to encounter! I never felt like I quite had a handle on what was going on, and when it comes to the largest purchase you can make, that leaves me uncomfortable. Our new home purchase coupled our bout with the Stomach Flu this weekend, has rendered me nearly unbloggable!
Secondly, Friday night at the Jabs residence is, and always has been, pizza night. My father started the tradition when we were kids, and I have done my best to keep it alive. Last Friday, my wife & I ate our pizza then headed home. Roughly a few hours after we ate, I began feeling nauseous. Let it be stated that I’m not the type to lay around feeling that way; I would much rather go vomit and get it over with, so I did. Normally, at this point, I feel much better. Well, this time I didn’t. Another half hour passed, and I was off to the kneel before the porcelain once again. Then another half hour passed, and again, and again, and again. I think you get the point.
All in all, I believe it happened around 10 times. The next day I was done vomiting, but now had a slight fever accompanied with a head ache and body aches. That lasted until Sunday morning when I woke up, rolled over, and told my wife I was finally feeling better. She replied, “I’m not. I’ve puked 4 times since 3am”. I was so mad. This whole time I thought I had food poisoning and that she couldn’t catch anything. Well, we were mistaken. Turns out it was the stomach flu.
So after I was sick for two days and my wife took care of me, then she became sick and I took care of her. All in all, we had no Easter weekend. We had no Easter dinner. We simply sat on the couch all weekend taking care of each other! This, coupled with my new home purchase has definitely rendered me…unbloggable!
My apologies go out once again to all my readers, and God willing, I will be writing more from here on out. I am now healthy and I have settled my home financing, so there should be many good articles coming in the near future.
Thank you for your patience.

Matey, you have my sympathies.
I suffered a similar thing last August, and I really wouldn’t have minded if I’d died on the spot.
Take it easy til you’re back on your feet, that thing can knock you silly for weeks after.
Thanks Chris.
It is 3 days following and I seem to be fine today. I am at work, and haven’t had any problems yet. My wife is home sick but said she is feeling better this morning. We’ll see.
One thing is for sure though…my stomach is still not 100%.
Hi Bud, sorry to hear that you were sick! I would have called you back Easter but I figured you were at your dads. Glad you are better!
Get well all the way and get back to writing, Mister. It’s what you do best.
That’s not what the ladies say RT!
lol, thanks.
[...] had wondered what happened to Matthew at eJabs. I need wonder no more. He posted he was sick with the stomach flu. Or bad pizza. Or difficult home [...]
