First BanPaul, now BobMeetsBan! Who’s next for the Google Adsense Ban?

May 24th, 2007 by Matthew Jabs

I just read a post by Bob at BobMeetsWorld about how he was recently banned from Adsense.  He doesn’t really state the reason he was banned, but he was banned nonetheless.

This reminds me of another recent Adsense banning.  Paul at BlogPaul was also banned.  However, Paul did give us the reason, well…kind of.

He posted the email he received from Google that reads:

“Hello Paul Hunter,It has come to our attention that invalid clicks and/or impressions
have been generated on the Google ads on your site(s). We have
therefore disabled your Google AdSense account. Please understand that
this was a necessary step to protect the interests of AdWords
advertisers.”

Can you help me narrow down what “invalid clicks and/or impressions” were taking place?  Were you guys clicking on your own ads?  If so, purposely or accidentally?  Did you have someone else click your ads?  If so, how often, etc.

I’m curious to know the nitty-gritty of why they were both banned.  Can you guys illuminate the bloggers who are still able to use Adsense, so we can avoid any mistakes that could lead to this life-time-ban?

I’ve read the Adsense rules, but I’m still very interested to read the exact reason why any particular blogger was banned.

After writing this, but before posting it, I found this article that will probably be of interest.

Try reading Google’s Inside AdWords about invalid clicks.

Mike.

Just got banned by AdSense for making too much money on Feb 19, 2008. All websites that we had were generic business websites and everything was legal. Google Adsense’s email indicated a ‘bad business model’. Our translation is ‘We are paying you too much money’. Go figure. We had been up and running for over a year until our websites were getting noticed by Alexa.com and Google AdSense’s mysterious partners.
