I’m sick of my best posts not being popular…

May 12th, 2007 by Matthew Jabs

This post is going to be short & to the point.

Here’s the point:

I’m sick of how the best posts I’ve written are never popular in the “Blogosphere”.  Again, I’m going to keep this post short & to the point.  I am actually going to start a meme about it later, but the fact is that I’m sick of how my best posts never receive the traffic they should.  To illustrate, the Internet is filled with surfers who seem to more interested in reading about lesbians or how the RIAA is screwing them over.

Soon to come is a meme that will spread like wildfire…

Send your most informative/informed posts ever or better yet…REPUBLISH THEM HERE UNTIL WE GET IT ALREADY you know..

“From the archives…BLAH BLAH…Thank you for selecting the Digg for tis article and skipping over to Technorati to “favorite” this blog if you haven’t had a chance to take care of that yet.)”

It’ll be in my RSS reader, I’ll read it and if I learn something and think my readers would appreciate it I’ll put whatever in my Started and/or my RSS Pick Shareds.

This particular post, however, is nothing to write home about.

All the best,
Nia. ;)

P.S. I have a beef with people that just don’t call me but insist on writing and not giving me a way to respond voice to voice. My fingers, heck my whole hands and arms are over-worked and underpaid!

Yeah, I’m going over Techno right now to do the dooo if I haven’t already done so! :)

I like how you made the post less ’short and to the point’ by saying youwere going to make it ’short and to the point’ twice :)

You sound P.O. Matt, or are you tongue in cheek?

I think your articles are more suited to the long game, and SE traffic rather than crappy Digg or Reddit. Make more use of Stumble too.

The related posts plugin may be worth your while too.

If you are trying to get them dugg you may want to announce it in a few forums, I’ve noticed quite a few people doing that lately.

I’ll be watching for that “soon to come meme.”

Thanks everybody…

I was just reading through a ton of my old posts last night with a friend & realized that all the posts I’ve written that, to me, were “good posts”, never seem to be high traffic.

I think you all know of what I speak!

The meme will arrive in the beginning of next week.

It seems like writing good content isn’t enough anymore. You have to promote your content as well as create it.

I have seen everything from email signatures, mass email requests for eyeballs, and bait and sitch headlines.

Its too bad, but human nature I guess..

It just seems like perversion is the best means to popularity these days & it pisses me off after awhile…anyway…the meme is soon to come.

When ever I feel like that, I just make sure to add a line or two about my crotch. That usually helps.

That happens to me a lot. When I was writing consistently for a popular blog I used to get someone else to read through my articles for me and give me feedback about them.

Otherwise, if you think it has what it takes, just keep shoving links in peoples faces, saying - “Check this out again!”.

You’ll find a way to get around it no doubt…
